Many of those who appreciate all things theology would be aware of Tom Wright’s magnum opus known by the title: Christian Origins and the Question of God Series. Three volumes have already been released over the past couple of decades. And now it seems that the next and fourth work will be released in 2013. It will come as 3 volumes itself, being entitled: Paul and the Faithfulness of God.
The 3 volumes of this newest release will be:
- Paul and the Faithfulness of God
- Paul and His Recent Interpreters
- Pauline Perspectives: Essays on Paul 1978-2012
The overview at the Logos website states this:
As an important scholar of the New Testament and a prolific author and lecturer, N. T. Wright’s books have been highly influential in the study of Jesus, the resurrection, and early Christianity.
Now, in the much-anticipated fourth part of the series, Wright explores Paul’s worldview and theology in light of Second Temple Judaism. He also summarizes and explains all the key areas of debate in contemporary Pauline studies. The final part of this three-volume work brings together N. T. Wright’s most important and influential articles on Paul over the last 30 years.
I suppose it won’t be too far off from his other works like Paul: In Fresh Perspective; What Saint Paul Really Said; and . I’ve read the last two, but not the first. So I’d say we might know some of the major points Wright will make, though they might be expounded on just a bit more.
The exact date of release has not been stated, but it seems most likely the month of November.
Hopefully? Finally… yes I will get it and read it, though I am not a Wrighten. But people should read his older ‘Paul, In Fresh Perspective’ (2005), first. Btw here is modern “supersessionism”…Ugh!
Old-fashioned supersessionism is good enough for me.
But the real problem is that it is not really “old fashioned”!
There is only one people of God. That is not supersessionism. I don’t know why people don’t see that. God doesn’t have two plans, one for the Jew and one for the church. He has one people.
