The Man of Antivia (Part 1)

I not only enjoy writing on theological-biblical-spiritual matters, but I also long to one day write more in the fiction genre as well. I hope to post this series in the coming weeks and months.

Deeply embedded within the forest of Antivia, there was one who lived isolated from the rest of those in the land of Thorenfield. No one knew exactly where he lived within that vast forest. And most had never seen him face to face, aside from only a handful. But they say, if you listen closely enough, tune your ears just after dusk as the sun has fallen below the horizon, one may be able to hear his haunting screams…‘Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeee!’

Yorund woke from his sleep, startled, groggy. ‘Huh, huh, whaaat?’ Continue reading

Inheritance Purchased

For those who know me, one would note that I love books in the fantasy fiction genre. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are my cup of tea! And I hope to one day try my pen, or laptop, at crafting such a book.

Thus, I finally have purchased my copy of the fourth and final book of the Inheritance Cycle. Oddly enough, Book 4 is entitled Inheritance. It’s been what has seemed a long while, but the book was finally released about 2 weeks ago, after just a tad over 3 years of waiting.

Normally, I’d purchase books on the Kindle app of my iPad these days. But I have the other 3 books in paper, plus my wife has followed this series and she doesn’t want to read from an e-reader. So I went ‘old-school’ with this one and purchased a paper copy. Hey, I like paper too. I only switched over once I realised where we were headed in the coming years.

Can’t wait to receive the book this weekend and start diving in!

The Hobbit Movie

For those who are great fans of the Lord of the Rings books and films, as am I, they have now begun filming for the new movie, The Hobbit. It will come as a two-part release, with the first scheduled out in December 2012.

The English actor, Martin Freeman, will play the young Bilbo Baggins while Ian McKellen will continue with the role of Gandalf the Grey.

My friends’ son is currently travelling around New Zealand for a gap year. Just this past week, their tour happened along the filming crew of The Hobbit. No doubt that would have been an interesting experience.

I am looking forward to the release, though it is just over a year and a half away. I am glad the final Harry Potter movie shall be released this coming summer and then the final book of the Inheritance cycle is released in November (after about a 3 year wait). But what movie or book from the fantasy fiction genre will be released in earlier 2012 to hold me over until the release of The Hobbit?….
