We’ve heard of the outcomes of many sporting events being reversed (I’m thinking most recently of the LSU-Auburn football game). But a great reversal took place today in the Bible-theological world.
Crossway has admitted it was a mistake to announce that the ESV “will remain unchanged in all future editions printed,” and, therefore, become the ESV Permanent Text. See the article at Christianity Today.

I very much appreciate the writings of N.T. Wright. I’m currently reading his book, Simply Jesus: A New Vision of Who He Was, What He Did, and Why It Matters, which is a partner text with his most recent publication, How God Became King: The Forgotten Story of the Gospels. I hope to post a shorter, combined review in the coming weeks. I’ve also enjoyed Wright’s works on various other topics such as Scripture and Pauline theology.

This past Sunday at Cornerstone, I continued on from my previous week’s message, which was entitled ‘More Than Bread’. In that message, I spring-boarded off of Jesus’ statement: ‘Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God’ (Matt 4:4).

For some, they feel the deep call into the world of academia. For others, not so much. And there is everything else in between.
Of course, there is also the extreme of seeing the world of academia non-important, especially when it comes to dealing with biblical studies and theology.
And then one can swing the pendulum to far to the other side top where study never leads to the life of Christ, but to being puffed up in knowledge (1 Cor 8:1), even pushing one away from Christ (i.e. John 5:39-40). Continue reading
