Last week a new organization launched their online platform: Church Clarity (churchclarity.org).
What is this organization?
At its core, Church Clarity wants to see churches become clear on where they stand with issues regarding the LGBTQ community. Particularly, are these churches affirming or non-affirming? Their website states: Continue reading
I’m on social media. Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Instagram. It’s part of today’s world. I don’t want it to rule my life, but I’m interested in engaging within these platforms of the 21st century.
Right across all of them – well, maybe not Google+ since it never became what Google hoped – there is constant political commentary. Actually, at times, it’s more like tirades. The right won’t stop until they’ve shamed the left; the left won’t stop until the President is impeached and dethroned.
I’ve said this not a few times, but it’s all about a political, power-hungry game.
That’s really what it is. People maneuvering for power. There is an insatiable desire to win.
It’s not centered in what is good “for the people.” Both sides are completely selfish, manipulative, coercive, and more. And it’s tiring. Continue reading
I used to have a podcast entitled, The Prodigal Thought Podcast, lo and behold. Perhaps one day that will come back to life.
But I thought I’d try something new and different with a video podcast today. I might keep going with this.
Today I offer some thoughts on the election (yeah, I know, everyone is doing that). However, I offer thoughts that aren’t usually brought to the table – a voting option that is a real option. Continue reading
I have held my tongue for a very long time in commenting on something I believe is grievous within the evangelical church of America. But today I came across a 5,000+ word article written by evangelical theologian, Wayne Grudem, and it pushed me over the edge.
The article is entitled, “Why Voting for Donald Trump Is a Morally Good Choice.” Yes, just let that title sit there for a moment.
In it, Grudem lists a plethora (and I mean a plethora!) of reasons why Christians should vote for Donald Trump. More specifically, as the article title asserts, to vote for Trump is the morally good choice.
Hang with me for a moment as I process a couple of things, though not for 5,000+ words! Continue reading
It’s a specific time of year. No, I do not speak of Independence Day, nor of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, though these are all events happening this July. I speak of NBA summer trade deals currently going on.
Here is the crazy thing, at least for me: I’m reading about folk who are not “superstars” but are getting signed for close to $30 million a year! Not a four- or five-year contract for that much, but being paid that much over a period of twelve months. One person being paid that much money in one year – superstar or not – is mind boggling!
[Update: The whole sporting world finally heard from Kevin Durant who has decided to take his game to Golden State making a cool $54.3 million over the next two years.]
I’ve actually been wanting to do this for some time now. Reading about recent trade deals has propelled me to do so. Continue reading
