About Me

IMG-0514I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. The bluff city is my hometown. I encountered Christ through a life-altering, new birth conversion in January 1997.

I serve on staff at Visible Music College, a music and ministry college with campuses in Memphis, Chicago, Dallas, and Germany. I also teach as an adjunct online professor at various other places such as Christian Brothers University, LeTourneau University and Tabor College. I’ve had two stints of teaching and ministry work in Europe: the UK from 2003-2006 as Old Testament Lecturer for the Bible College of Wales and Belgium from 2008-2013 as pastor of Cornerstone International Church.

I hold a B.A. in Communications from the University of Memphis, an M.A. in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary, and two years of work on a Doctor of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. I plan to start my Ph.D. at the University of Aberdeen in early 2020.

My wife, Catherine (Cat), is a beautiful English rose and an artist-photographer. We met in the UK during my 3-year stint there. We have 3 boys, aging from 10 to 3 years old.

My book, Change for the First Time, Again, was released in September 2016 under Wipf & Stock’s imprint, Resource Publications. My newest work, Reflections of Immanuel, is planned for release in the Fall of 2020, also with Wipf & Stock.

For a look at my teaching and ministry work, you can review my CV and you can also check out my academic weblog, which displays more teaching material.

  1. Hey Scott,

I stumbled onto your page after finishing the “Heaven is for Real” book a few minutes ago. Enjoyed your honest review and I tend to have the same feelings as you.

Also – cool that you are in Belgium. My father came over from Belgium with his parents when he was a teenager many years ago.

  2. Anthony –

Ik spreek soms nederlands. Ik heb in Belgie al 3 en een halve jaar gewoond, maar mijn nederlands is niet perfect. Ik volg een cursus. Woon jij in Belgie?

  3. Scott, I stumbled upon this video today, and immediately thought of you. I think you will appreciate the journey these two gentlemen are on. I’ll leave you to use Google to find out who these guys are if you are unfamiliar with them.

Please let me know your thoughts.

  4. Scott,
I’m an Christian artist from Southern California. I was researching inspiration for my next painting and stumbled-or was guided to your site. I read the article about the little boy with visions of heaven, and I’ve followed the artist Arkain’s journey. I have some of my experiences I’m willing to share that I’ve had since I was little. Dreams mostly. you can find me at http://kelliethomas-walker.com/ or just google my name and different sites I’m on will come up.
    Sincerest Regards,
    Kellie Thomas-Walker

  5. I was invited by this month of August 5-7, 2013 for a Pastoral Conference. I designed a topic: God sovereignty in Pastoral Shepherding and prayed about it. God had lead me to your site as I browse. Thanks for the Great though on “God is a shepherd” and is an overseer for even Christ has a high view of himself as a good shepherd. thanks for it help me expand my thinking and approach on my seminar modules on Pastoral Sheperding. Glory be to God.
