I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. The bluff city is my hometown. I encountered Christ through a life-altering, new birth conversion in January 1997.
I currently teach theology and ministry courses at two local colleges in the Memphis area, while also serving as an online adjunct for other colleges. I’ve had two stints of teaching and ministry work in Europe: as a professor in the UK from 2003-2006 and as a pastor in Belgium from 2008-2013.
I hold a B.A. in Communications from the University of Memphis, an M.A. in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary, and two years of work toward a Doctor of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. I begin my Ph.D. at the University of Aberdeen in February 2020. My research looks at how missional practices impact spiritual formation in the life of the Christian.
My wife, Catherine (Cat), is a beautiful English rose and an artist-photographer. We met in the UK during my 3-year stint there. We have 3 boys, aging from 10 to 3 years old.
My book, Change for the First Time, Again, was released in September 2016 under Wipf & Stock’s imprint, Resource Publications. My newest work, Reflections of Immanuel, is planned for release in the Fall of 2020, also with Wipf & Stock.
