Recently the news came out that, The Shack, mega-selling book by author William Paul Young, is being made into a film. The release date looks to be projected for some time in 2016.
If you will remember, with the release of this book in 2008, it caused quite the split-decision amongst evangelicals. The response was comparable to Marmite (if you’re British you’ll understand that reference). People generally either hated it or loved it.
But the book has gone on to sell 10+ million copies.
The filming plans are already in the works – you can follow some updates at William Paul Young’s Facebook page. The cast will include:
- Sam Worthington – Avatar, Terminator Salvation, Clash of the Titans
- Radha Mitchell – Finding Neverland, Phone Booth, Man on Fire
- Octavia Spencer – The Help
- Graham Greene – Dances with Wolves, The Green Mile
I’m interested to see how the film turns out.
FYI: I spent some time offering a very thorough review of the book – part 1, part 2, part 3. I didn’t fall into the category of uproar on this one, but rather saw something good in this story to draw people to the Father.
